Desires of the Heart
To touch to feel
To know you are real.
To hold to embrace
To once again feel my pulse race.
To give to receive
To fully believe
To live to breathe
To finally find relief.
No more empty promises
No more lonely nights.
You and me to be set free.
That is this hearts desire.
No more rejection
No more affliction
Only open love
Only endless affection.

Rain
I stood in the rain
wet cool droplets running down
my face my arms my legs
face upturned with a smile of acceptance
soul cleansing tears from heaven
pouring into my soul
filling me up.
I stood in the rain.

Timid Understanding
One year ago you left us
Why I still don't know
God had a plan I guess
Its purpose I still don't know.
I miss your laugh, your smile, your scent
The twinkle in your eye
I hear the quiet shuffle of your feet
The escaped sigh when you sat.
So many things are different
We've all changed you see
Having to move forward
In spite of everything.
Although you're gone
Sometimes you're not
I swear I see you there
I take a closer look and all I see is
air.
I do keep waiting
Hoping and holding on
That this is some bad dream
And tomorrow you'll be home.
Someday my reality will sink in
Until then I embrace
Each fond memory I have
Leaning on God's grace.
Gone but not forgotten
Forever you remain
Someday we'll meet again
And I'll hold on to you again.

Taking flight soaring above.
Tree tops, rivers, and streams below
Gliding effortlessly over open fields of green
Wings spread wide in majestic beauty against blue sky.
Upon the ground scurrying through the leaves
Twisting my whiskers and sniffing for food to eat
Finding a piece of bread I devour it instantly
Crumbs falling apart in my paws and all around me
Soaring lower seeing what there is to see.
Dipping, swooping, winding and weaving.
Glistening black eyes peering at the ground below,
Looking and searching for something yet unknown.
Soft moonlight dances across your brow.
a smile so tender adorns your lips.
As peacefully you dream
in my arms.
What do you dream of?
Is it magical?
Is it mystical?
Do you dream of me?
Keeping watch while you slumber
brings me an inner peace
not to be defined.
Gently brushing hair from your brow
you stir…pulling me closer.
Silently urging me to sleep
your warm breath on my cool skin.
Together we dream
of magical mystical things.

Candlelight
The lone flicker of a taper
Lighting my pen trail
Shadows casting ominous figures
As I think of you.
Thinking of my memoires
Stitching them together in my mind
Graceful needle weaving in and out
Silver thread trailing behind
Fixing them in my mind
Securing them in my heart.
Yesterday is but a dream
Today is for the living
Tomorrow is not a promise
Some days you dance across my memory
While others you seem so far
Always though you dwell in my soul
All but a memory.
Alone with my thoughts
Stitching together my memories
Locking you away safely
Longing for another tomorrow.

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things
I cannot change,
the courage to change
the things I can,
and the wisdom
to know the difference.
-Serenity Prayer
Determination - Even the tallest mountain is conquered one step
at a time.
Change isn't scary - it's growth. And growth is the essence of life.
Believe in yourself and you'll always be on solid ground, no matter where you are.
Fear looks back, worry looks around, Faith looks up.
"If you take your eyes
off your goals, all you see are obstacles."
Trust in God's authority Not man's

If you're searching for the key to success, look inside yourself.
Do not be afraid of competition. (my fortune cookie last week)
Roses don't grant you immunity
or solicit forgiveness.

Perseverance - Barely hanging on and ahead by a mile both mean that you're in the game.
The difference between cats and dogs is that dogs come when they're called...and cats
take a message and get back to you.
Warm rays soaking in my skin
Cool salty mist soothing me
Blues blending into greens
White foam tips riding the waves in.
Gulls soaring overhead
Children laughing and splashing
People walking hand in hand
Barefoot in the sand.
Waves crashing on the shore
Washing away the memory
Leaving behind traces of tomorrow
Warm sand sprinkling through my hands.

My Senses
Shadows playing in the distance
Enter-twining every now and then
As if in some sacred dance
I see you.
Deep breathing and quiet clicking
Joyful laughing at something said
Quiet reassurances all will be well
I hear you.
Cool breeze blowing across my skin
Softly filled with tender mist
Lightly dampens my warm skin
I feel you.
Salty as of human flesh
Sweet as nectar from a fruit
Rough and gentle in one breath
I taste you.
Small engine purring along
Birds chirping over the din
The smell of fresh cut grass fills the air
I smell you.
You are all around me
In my mind
In my heart
I can't get you out of me.

LOHADS
There is a place called LOHADS
The Land of Hope and Dreams
A place where you'll find family
A home away from home you see.
We laugh we cry we share our pain
We help each other along the way
We pray we chat we care so much.
We never dream of giving up!
Some come and go and do not stay
While others check in once a day
Some stay a while and then depart
But the core always finds its way.
This place was started with a dream
Many years ago - and on and on
This train keeps rolling
Its dream keeps living on.
Our founder often reminds us
Never to forget
That faith will be rewarded
And dreams will not thwarted!
So on and on this train must roll
This Land of Hopes and Dreams
Our faith will be rewarded!
Our dreams will not be thwarted!

We've All Done It
Trading time for money
When all I want is some honey
A slice of the sweet life
Not all the painful strife
Punch in
Over the din
Drills, and saws and incessant pounding
All the while wishing I was finding
Watching the clock
As it goes tick tock
Slowly ticking away the seconds
Precious seconds of my life
Over worked and under paid
Isn't that the American way
Unappreciated and taken advantage of
Struggling all along to rise above
Punch out
Always running the same exhausting route
Playing catch up but always behind
Never getting ahead because of the daily grind
Time for me and Time for you
Trading time for money
When all we want is some of the honey
A slice of the sweet life
Not all the painful strife.
Thankful for the job I have today
All the while hoping for some other way
To show me its lovely face
So I can get out of this long and painful rat race.
Trading precious time for money

It is all about perspective.

"To get something you never had, you have to do something you never did." When God takes something from your grasp, He's not punishing you, but
merely opening your hands to receive something better. "The Will of God will never take you where the Grace of God will not protect you."

A ham sandwich on white bread
The soft kind that gets stuck in your teeth.
A soda pop, the fountain kind - not from a silly can
Crushed ice - not the huge chunks you can't fit your mouth around.
A warm apple pie - with real apples and homemade crust
Not the stuff out of a box and a can.
A first kiss under the stars
On a warm clear summer night.
Driving around town with no destination in mind
No concern for gas prices or wasting time.
Phone call from a friend
Just to say hello - no requests or demands just a meeting of the minds.
A time where things were simple
Pleasure wasn't sought after
It simply was.
I long for those carefree summer days
Filled with laughter
And pink lemonade.
Swinging on the tire swing
In the old city park
Until the street lamps came on
Cueing us all it was dinner time.
Baseball games where the teams had no name and the score didn't matter
All the popcorn and peanuts you could eat as they were free.
Waving to the wheat truck drivers headed to the elevator
They were our friends after all.
Walking around barefoot
Because we can.
Fourth of July barbeques where the food was abundant
The music was loud and there was carefree dancing all around
When scrapes and scratches were trophies
He who had the most had to have had most fun!
Riding bikes was the favorite past time
And only way to get from point A to point B on our own schedule.
A time when life was simple
Money didn't matter
Time was all we had.
